Open source
Also called: code ouvert, logiciel libre, opensource
Open source means a piece of software’s source code is public: anyone can read it, audit it, reuse it, or propose improvements — the opposite of a black box. For trust, that changes everything: the tradingview-mcp server you connect to Claude is open source, so you can verify for yourself what it does before installing it, and confirm that it only reads your chart and never places an order. The MCP protocol itself is open source, and so are Git and Node.js.
