Last updated: November 7, 2026.

A month ago, I launched my first bot, built on the methodology and strategy BBS teaches in his latest bootcamp, “Conçois ton Bot” (in French).

After one month, it is already clear that the results go well beyond what I had hoped for. The simulation is very promising and my first prop firm test is going well. And the most surprising part is that I am enjoying it a lot, even though I have never been comfortable with futures. My thing was mining and spot. In the future, it will be bots, that much is certain.

I was probably a bit lucky. I also often think backwards when I start something. This time, even while moving fast, even skipping a few steps, I did everything in order: simulate, test on FTMO, then go looking for my mistakes.

The month in 6 dates
  1. Simulation launch
  2. 13 winning trades, then the 1st SL (−3.1%)
  3. The bug, fixed the same day (−2.6%)
  4. First FTMO 2-Step test
  5. The midterms, I pay to see (−8.6%)
  6. Latest FTMO test, more diversified

My results, week after week

  1. +5.7%

Week 1, October 8 to 14: the start

I launch the simulation on MetaTrader 5, with $10,000 in virtual money. The week ends at +5.7%, with 11 winning trades out of 11.

  2. +0.5%

Week 2, October 15 to 21: the first mistakes

After 13 winning trades, here comes the first SL: −3.1%. On October 20 the bug arrives: one of my robots closes the positions of the others, for −2.6%. Fixed the same day. The week stays positive, at +0.5%.

  3. +15.9%

Week 3, October 22 to 28: the click

28 trades, 28 winners, +15.9%. On October 26, 18 days after the start, I launch my first FTMO 2-Step test, with a mix taken from my simulation. I choose the 2-Step because it allows risk management as close as possible to a personal account.

  4. −3.7%

Week 4, October 29 to November 4: I pay to see

The simulation climbs to +29.2% on November 2. Then the midterms arrive. I let it run on purpose, to push the news exposure as far as possible and learn from verified mistakes. The simulation takes 3 SLs at once and loses 8.6%. The FTMO test takes just one, for −2.1%.

  1. +4.1%

Week 5, since November 5: the restart

9 winning trades out of 9 in two days, that is +4.1%. On November 6, I launch my latest FTMO test, with a more diversified strategy.

My two FTMO 2-Step tests

The first test is at +3.0% in 12 days, with 14 winning trades out of 15. It has fallen a bit behind: without the midterms SL, it would be at +5.2%. That is the price of my curiosity, and I pay it gladly: I now know how my bot behaves on a real FTMO test, in the middle of a shock.

First test+3.0%in 12 days

Speed against risk of failure: slightly more aggressive

Latest test+1.2%in 1 day

A more diversified mix, designed for a smoother curve

Its settings are a compromise between speed and risk of failure, slightly more aggressive. The latest test takes the other path: a more diversified mix, designed for a smoother curve. It is at +1.2% after one day of trades, and it is still too early to conclude.

My bot's win rate, trade by trade

The month's 82 trades, in order
Overall win rate
87.8%
Without the bug trades
93.4%
71 winners6 closed by the bug5 losers

Out of 82 trades, the bot wins 72, a win rate of 87.8%. Removing the 6 trades closed by the bug, it rises to 93.4%. Still, the win rate does not tell the whole story: one SL wipes out about 6 gains. That is where everything is decided.

What I keep in mind

I always tune the bot on a recent window, to match today's market, which means watching it closely.

What comes next in the journal

I add to this journal every week. To follow the simulation figures, head to the BBS Bot page. To see everything we do around bots and artificial intelligence, go to the AI and trading page.

And we are starting to adapt the MT5 bot to crypto platforms… but that is another story.

Results come from a simulation and FTMO tests on virtual capital. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Trading carries a risk of capital loss. This article is not investment advice.

Frequently asked questions

What results does this MT5 trading bot deliver?

After one month, the simulation is at +23.4% over 82 trades, with a win rate of 87.8% and a maximum drop of 8.6%. The first FTMO 2-Step test is at +3.0% in 12 days.

Are these results achieved with real money?

The figures in this journal come from a simulation and FTMO tests, both on virtual capital.

Why an FTMO 2-Step test?

It is the format that allows risk management as close as possible to a personal account. The first step targets +10%, the second +5%, with a maximum loss of 10%.

How do I learn to design a bot?

My starting point is BBS's course, “Conçois ton Bot de Trading” (in French), which presents his methodology and strategy. To get started for free in English, head to our guide.
